The Super Soaker was created by Lonnie Johnson in 1982. It happened unintentionally as he was making a heat pump which used water, in which it shot out and gave out a blast of water. From that he decided to put his scientific duties on hold for a while, and work on making his great little invention a reality, that has brought and still brings so much fun and excitement to many people today, including me. After 7 years of development and trying to find a company to market his product with, it was Larami who came in and managed to agree a deal with him, in 1989. That year the original Super Soaker 50 as we know and love was released, back then called the Power Drencher before the name was changed to Super Soaker 2 years later. And from then on the rest as we know is history!
